I have a plumbing emergency, what should I do?

What do you do when a plumbing emergency arises? The very first thing is to ensure it's safe, and hopefully not getting even worse. Electricity and water do not combine safely, so if you need to, turn the mains switch off at the power panel.

If there is still water leaking, turn off the service valve to the appliance or fixture if possible, or go straight to the main water valve for your property. If you are unable to find the water valve to turn off, then you could try turning on all the cold taps inside and outside the residence to depressurise the system and minimise the leak.

Once that is done, give us a call, no matter what the day or time is. We’ll be there shortly to resolve the problem.

While you wait for our emergency plumber to arrive, remove any significant things, wipe up any water, and put a bucket to catch any drips. You should also turn off the hot water heating if the main water is turned off.
